Our carp fisheries the Rise

The largest of our carp fisheries is the Rise it was formed in 2007 and in a very short time has gained a reputation for being a well run carp fishery in beautiful surroundings situated in the essex countryside. During 2007/8 carp were regularly caught over twenty pounds with many over the magic 30lb mark.

The fish in our carp fisheries have grown on fast due to good water quality and the abundance of natural food. At the Rise numbers are strictly limited.

The season runs from 1st April until 25th March each year. Places will be offered to potential new members from our waiting list after all existing members have been offered the chance to renew their membership.

The mill 8
The mill 8 was dug as a typical wet gravel pit in 03/04 and had extensive landscaping in 2005 the lake is around 3 - fifteen feet deep,and we have already planted a number of reeds ,trees, bushes, and lilies, around its margins the lake is some 8 acres in size. We have over 100 fish present In the bigger lake mill(8) at the moment, with more being added each year , they range between 9lb – 21lb plus .

This lake is 3 acres in size and is around 4 - fifteen feet deep , and is very very mature being surrounded by overhanging willow trees,reeds, bushes, lilies,gravel bars,silt etc around its margins. In the smaller lake we have over 70 fish and they range between 7lb – 25lb 8oz some of which are originals.

The carp present in both lakes are of an old English strain (horseshoe orchid strain) and all are very scaly.
