Colchester Angling Preservation Society

C.A.P.S is a highly motivated forward looking society, offering quality angling at a reasonable cost. They control a number of lakes, and several miles of river bank, all of which contain good stocks of quality fish. Species include: Carp, Pike, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Barbel, Tench and Catfish.

Membership gives access

  •  Over 60 acres of still waters
  •  Many miles of rivers with numerous stretches on the River Stour and Colne
  •  24 hour fishing on most waters, except Layer Pit and Rockinghams Farm
  •  All year round fishing on all still waters except Layer Pit
  •  Three rods allowed on most waters during the winter
  •  No extra charge for Night Fishing or using 3 rods.
  •  Club nights every Monday. (except public holidays.)
  •  An active match calendar, including nationals.

Colchester Angling Preservations Society currently control 13 lakes in 10 locations, giving access to over 60 acres of water. The waters range in size from 1 to 19 acres offering different types of venues for different styles of angling, all of which are situated in and around north Essex.

All are easily accessible by road, although parking is limited on some.

Some of the lakes have swims set aside for disabled anglers.
