English Carp Heritage Organisation

The principal thrust of ECHO in the last few years has been diseases; lobbying the government to make KHV a notifiable disease and thus open up the way for enforcement measures such as site closure etc. We have also funded research into KHV and SCMS - this has been so successful that it has attracted further funding to the tune of £140,000 from government! We are also lobbying the government on a number of other areas, between the SAA and ECHO we have been consulted and involved in 18 different issues last year.

We are also taking a step forward in political representation; we were instrumental in the setting up of FWG (Fish Welfare Group) which, through FACT, provides an effective voice for a variety of organisations to government - such as the SAA, OATA, ECHO, BCSG and a great number of others.
