Livens was originally established as an Ironmongers in 1850. It has been run by the same family for more than 50 years; first by Mr. Geoff Shreeve, and now by his daughter, Wendy, and son-in-law, Tim Gray.
In the 1960's and 1970's Livens expanded its operations to include quality tools, gardening equipment and hardware.
In the 1970's and 1980's, after acquiring its present premises from another ironmongers, Livens built up its activities in shooting and leisure. At around the same time Tim Gray joined the business, trained as a locksmith and developed its expertise in security.
Although the huge expansion of DIY in the 1990's saw the end of many traditional ironmongers, Livens thrives by specialising in three areas that depend on detailed, practical knowledge and good customer service; Locks, Guns and Fishing Equipment.
