Rushes Lake is 10 acres in size and is situated in over 17acres of breath taking scenery; the backdrop to the lake is truly spectacular, with rolling farmland on one side of the lake and woods on the other.
We like to keep the lake looking as natural as possible and allow the Rushes & Reeds to grow on the margins to about 3ft during the summer, thus giving each swim a feeling of total seclusion.
Having never been used as a fishery before, we set about clearing the lake ready for the new arrivals. In November 2003 the lake was ready. Now we needed the fish, we were determined to ensure that the fish we stocked were not obtained illegally, so we obtained our fish from a reputable source, with that done we introduced them into their new home. Over 200 Carp were added into Rushes Lake, Royale Carp with their stunning scale patterns, Margot Commons that shine like bars of gold & Dinks with the largest being a magnificent 46lbs.
The fish are all notoriously hard fighting, and don’t give in, even when in the net! In addition to our Carp stock we added a number of Wels Catfish in January 2005 to provide an additional challenge, these are currently in the 50lb bracket.
